Hello Lovelies, so I’ve decided to start a new weekly post called Amanda Millie’s Friday Female. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while and I actually don’t know why I haven’t done it till now to be honest. I have grown up with so many strong women around me who have really inspired me to the person I am today, and I think there is nothing more beautiful than women celebrating other women. I would love for you guys to get involved as well, if there is anyone in your life, work or whatever form whom you consider worthy of being in the spotlight, then please drop me an email and I will be more than happy to feature them. 10 things I wish could tell my 16 year old self actually came about during a hilarious throwback conversation with a friend of mine at work today. We were pretty much reminiscing about some of the fashion crimes we committed during our teenage years. Does anybody remember that Christina Aguilera song, Dirrty? OMG!! I was so obsessed with her, I literally wanted to be her. Ewwwwwwww! Those super low rise jeans? Cringe!!!!! Anyway, it got me thinking….if I had a time machine and could go back and talk to my 16 year old self, what would I tell her? This is what I came up with…...
1. Act your age.
Please don’t be in a hurry to grow up. Enjoy being young, play more, watch Sabrina the teenage witch, have fun and just be a teenager. Growing up is so overrated, I mean seriously! It comes with responsibilities, bills, bills, more bills, oh and did I mention bills?? You get the picture right? View Full Post
I have a message for you, I say YOU because I believe it will resonate with whoever it is supposed to reach. So I literally had one of the most bizarre of days today, you know those random days when you get people that you thought were in your past suddenly popping up out of nowhere? Yup, that was me today. I guess sometimes we get these triggers and they take us back to those moments of vulnerability where we feel uncertain about ourselves. I’m probably going to write a blog post about it, but for now I want to say……. View Full Post

The body shaming phenomenon is not exactly new to the health and fitness industry, but has it actually gone too far lately? I wonder…..
Everyone knows about ‘fat shaming’, and we’re all very clear on how wrong it is, even going as far as scorning those who partake in such behaviour. “That’s nasty? What kind of person fat shames other people?! Ugh!!!
I have to say though, one type of body shaming, that I hardly ever hear people address is that of ‘fit people’. So by ‘fit’, I mean those people who decide they want to eat healthy, they want to workout and be strong/have more energy…be fit! We all know that our bodies come in sooooo many different shapes and sizes, and saying that, there really should be no (one size fits all) definition of fit and healthy. I’m seeing a lot of body shaming/name calling online aimed at people who are simply trying to work on their health. Somehow it’s totally wrong to fat-shame, yet we have absolutely no problem with telling someone they’re too skinny/muscly etc. seriously???? I’ve been on this fitness journey for a couple years now, and actually had to deal with people telling me I was starving myself, too skinny, not toned enough, showing off, the list goes on. I find it so sad that there are no longer any boundaries when it comes to this and everyone suddenly is an expert on YOUR life. It really has to stop, let’s try and do better as human beings.
